Why are we here if not to give back?

Jill Alexander American Cancer Society breast cancer giving back Lane Bryant New York Plus Model Magazine women supporting women

Consider yourself very lucky if breast cancer has not touched your life in one way or another.  Personally speaking, my sister, cousin, Mother in Law and way too many friends have fought that battle. On my last trip to New York, I dropped in on some of the most wonderful people I know, and they were doing life changing things for others.

Madeline Jones, Editor in Chief for Plus Model Magazine, and Marcy Cruz from the blog, Fearlessly Just Me, teamed up with Retailer Lane Bryant to give some very deserving cancer survivors head to toe makeovers. Dressing a new body can be daunting so connecting with an expert in the field can be life altering.  These precious gems gave these survivors new hair, makeup and wardrobe pieces.  The feeling in the room was overwhelming.

When women support other women, the most powerful things happen.  I felt so lucky just to be a witness to such magical moments.

If you'd like a similar experience, I'd like to invite you to the Gardens of Hope Fashion Show, on Sunday, November 6, 2016 benefitting the American Cancer Society.  Strong and courageous cancer survivors will be strutting their stuff in JAD clothing as well as the clothing of other local Santa Cruz Retailers.  This event is at Seascape in Aptos and reservations need to be made by October 14.
